Our Story
Together, We Are
Building a Village of Support, Empowerment, and Advocacy

Melanin Mass Moms was born from a deep need for community—a space where moms of color could feel heard, seen, and fully supported in their motherhood journey. Too often, we found ourselves navigating pregnancy, postpartum, and parenting without the culturally affirming care and connection we deserved. So in 2018, we started as an online network, creating a virtual village where moms could share, uplift, and support one another.
What began as a small community quickly grew into a movement. By 2021, Melanin Mass Moms became a nonprofit dedicated to improving maternal health outcomes and fostering a supportive, empowering space for moms of color. Today, we are a thriving network of over 5,000 members, offering vital resources such as doula scholarships, postpartum workshops, wellness events, monthly support groups, and training programs for birth workers.
At Melanin Mass Moms, we believe that when moms are supported, families and communities thrive. We are committed to advocacy, education, and creating spaces where Black and Brown mothers can not only survive but truly flourish in their motherhood journey.
Welcome to the village. You belong here.
